The title of this article is sure to capture any-one’s curiosity, how in the world would the story of Nehemiah allude to the rapture? Well perhaps refining this statement is more important Nehemiah is undoubtedly a compound passage and we can see this in the an open text – a hidden mystery. Let’s look at verse six in chapter two
And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
The queen is sitting with the King why so, why would this be added to the passage if it wasn’t a hidden message to us in the future? There is no question that Nehemiah’s quest was for the time in which he lived but often scriptures have compound fulfilment’s. When this was first revealed to my heart it was some twenty years ago, as I read the passage it was like Moses making request before Lord to return to his people seeing them in such despair. Ironically Nehemiah actually quotes in his prayer a verse from Moses writings.
8 Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
9 But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
Its verse nine that where we find a subtle allusion cast out unto the uttermost part of heaven This only could be fulfilled after 70 AD. The northern Kingdom was cast off to the furthest parts of the earth but never returned during the Babylonian captivity – only the house of Judah returned. After the dispersion of Israel in 70 Ad when Titus invaded the jews were scattered to the entire world.
I discussed this thought with Chuck Missler when we were filming together for a documentary on the Red Sea Crossing. Chuck was intrigued by the idea – I’m sure he will speak on this before long.
