Finish the transgression. When Jesus was here on the earth he did many, many miracles but the people refused to believe. Transgression is to go against something; in this case Israel went against God in refusing to believe. Paul tells us in Romans 11:26‘…And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, there shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob…’ Jesus Christ Himself will come to the modern day Israel and will turn away this ungodliness from Jacob. The name Jacob and Israel are one in the same when looking at prophetic scriptures. For those who would not know Jacob being one of the patriarchs after wrestling with the angel all night Jacob over came and was given a new name Israel meaning “prince with God.” So we find Jacob is Israel and the scripture will use both names referring to either the man Jacob or Israel the nation. So when Christ returns he will finish Israel’s transgression.
Isaiah spoke of this as well in the 53rd chapter and the 8th verse; ‘…8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken…’ Isaiah himself saw what would happen hundreds of years before hand. Was it totally Israel’s fault? I know not- Isaiah reveals more to us in 63rd chapter and the 17th verse ‘…O Jehovah, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance…’ Jehovah Himself caused Israel to errand Isaiah crying out in the spirit for the tribes of Israel to return to their homeland. How could anyone miss the hand of God here?
We have yet another promise from God that will lift this transgression because Gabriel has informed Daniel that the transgression will be finished, so it must come to an end. Let’s look at Micah for the answer to this. In Micah 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy…’ We have a promise of God that He will ‘…passeth by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage…’ As we bring in the scriptures here to back up what Gabriel has told Daniel how do you think the critics will answer? There is no place left for them to go so why not just stop condemning Israel and stand with her.
